This is the first of its kind in the country – something that Sunny Colch should celebrate.
The aim is to:
“Inspire and promote the repair, reuse and recycling of all materials to a wider audience.”
It may sound like a worthy mission, but it’s actually something that is taking place around our town, right now.
Repair, Reuse, Recycle has its roots in Wivenhoe.
Most things do…
Local Chris Blomeley has grown the organisation from being a local word of mouth operation to a full on Community Interest Company that operates throughout Colchester.
Now based at 15 Queen Street, Repair, Reuse, Recycle offers many repair services. Perhaps the most valuable is keeping white good out of landfill and repairing them.
Repair, Reuse, Recycle also did a rather tidy job in sewing back together The Chronic’s rear Brompton bicycle bag.
Job’s a good ‘un, etc.
The Firstsite event later in the month is a big step for Chris. Fifty exhibitors will be around on the day, all passionate to explain how we can help green Colchester.
[Note that green hasn’t been capped up, Comrades…]
The aims of Repair, Reuse and Recycling now regularly crop up at CBC Full Council and Cabinet. It’s ACE that we have a local organisation on the ground that is actually making this happen.
The Zero Waste Recycling Expo will be at Firstsite on 22nd April from 10am until 4pm.
Entrance is of course FREE.
