FREE Town Centre Parking for Christmas Wednesdays

Christmas is coming and Colchester Borough Council is…

not exactly getting fat, but getting into the festive spirit with some fee parking news.

Christmas is a time for joy, love and cheer.

And free car parking.

Roll up, roll up to any CBC town centre car parks on the Wednesday run up to Christmas and it won’t cost you a penny.

The idea of course is that you spend your pennies instead in the town centre.

Other out of town retail centres are not available – yet.

Starting on 26 November, and then taking in 6, 13 and 20 December, the car park payment machines will turn a blind eye from 3pm.

Something a little extra is planned for the Wednesday 13 December. Entry to Colchester Castle will be FREE from 3pm to 8:30pm.

This is a vision of the future.

Timbo teased us last week with a one off resident fee for the Castle. Apparently it’s due to start next April…

But back to the Season of Shopping.

A CBC PR person told the very decent Cllr Mike Lilley to smile and say:

“Colchester town centre offers shoppers a unique mix of independent and big name retailers to suit every taste and any pocket.

With the added bonus of free parking for late night shopping in our award winning car parks, your Christmas shopping can be all wrapped up for family and friends.”

It might also be worth following @Colch_presents which has emerged over the past few days.

It uses the Colchester 7 to help promote Christmas around the town.

We don’t think the Colchester is the laugh a minute CBC Cabinet.

And yep – we realise that the CBC Cabinet has eight Grumpy’s, Sleepy’s and Dopey’s etc, but we couldn’t thing of a suitable ending to this post.
