The Creative Apprenticeship Experience – nope, *not* a Sunny Colch Jimi Hendrix tribute band that plays covers addressing the division of labour in the creative sector [WOT?] – but the latest ACE event from The Minories in helping to build a creative economy in Colchester.
Um, Are You Experienced, etc?
The Minories will be hosting an informal gathering (always the best…) for any creative businesses based in Britain’s Oldest Recorded thinking of taking part in an apprenticeship scheme.
Employers are invited to The Minories on 31st January for The Creative Apprenticeship Experience. This is an scheme that has connections with the Colchester Institute and its quest to seek employment for students in the hyperlocal creative sector.
Guest speakers will be explaining their… experience during the afternoon.
Richard Brenkley, the Head of Digital at Centigrade will be able to pass on his knowledge of social media and the importance of this within the creative business economy.
Kevin Bentley will also be in attendence – wearing his Mosaic hat, rather than his CBC / ECC headwear we hope.
And so what is in it for any employer thinking of taking part in the Colchester Institute initiative? Up to £2,500 funding is available for employers who want to work with 16 to 24 year olds.
Work is the key here.
The very ethos of an apprenticeship is to train up young folk with the view of employment. Hopefully this will be the message at The Minories on 31st January.
The session starts at 4:30pm, runnging through until 6:30pm. You can register an interest by contacting Maria Lee at maria.lee@colchester.ac.uk, or by phoning 01206 712 071.
