And so sometime shortly after luncheon on Friday, The Chronic clocked up our 2000th Twitter follower.
Oooh – get you.
Never mind the length, feel the thickness, etc.
Which is hopefully how we have been approaching all of this hyperlocal nonsense.
And so a HUGE Sunny Colch Hellooooo! to @merseabrewery, our 2000th kind person who is keen to receive 140 or less character updates from The Chronic telling them all about how ACE Sunny Colchester is.
Plus we hope a little added value [GEDDIN].
It’s not the best medium in which to put forward a rational argument over the finer details of the CBC Planning Committee. But then again a full on 2,000 word blog piece asking for advice on the best tattooist in Britain’s Oldest Recorded is probably best left for Twitter.
We’ve still to receive the definitive answer to the tattoo question by the way, one of the most asked on twitter. We do know however where to guide folk who want to get their nails seen to around town…
For all the folly of Twitter, what it is absolutely ACE at is making initial online connections. This has been our approach all along – seek and find online, then transfer this to the real work, hopefully over a cup of coffee in town.
The offer still stands for anyone wanting to meet up and tell us about anything interesting or different that they are doing around Colchester. We can’t compete with the big (ish) boys, but then we wouldn’t want to anyway.
It’s all about sharing, Comrades.
We are always happy to RT anything Colchester connected that looks useful. Likewise we are always grateful when our tweeting twaddle gets RT-ed or answered. Apologies for almost causing the #Colchester hashtag to crash whenever the CBC Cabinet is meeting.
Plus don’t forget to have a look at who we are following. Follow these folk, look who they are following and then follow them as well.
It all comes back to:
If u want to get something done set up network, slow it down set up an organisation#lno10
— William Perrin (@willperrin) September 25, 2010
This is being used constructively with our Colchester Traders list. It also has its uses when the *shhh* Colchester tweet up [URGH] is being loosely organised for the Saturday afternoon of the @ColCAMRA Beer Festival @ColchesterArts next weekend.
Chin chin.
And so just over a year of filling your Twitter feed and we hit the 2,000 figure.
Hurrah!
Many thanks @merseabrewery. We hope that you don’t derail this blog post with a swift unfollow.
Let’s see where we can take this thing together…
