Christmas may be coming but the wheels of industry continue to turn around Sunny Colch. It’s a tough old economic climate out there. Sunday saw a steady stream of shoppers around the town centre, although tales of caution from some of our hyperlocal traders continue to be heard.
Hey hoe.
Peace and goodwill to all men, etc.
And women.
Plus @ColchesterBusiness.
Blimey.
Yep – no sooner are the Christmas staffing arrangements being made to cover the holidays period, and our favourite named Colchester Borough Council team is emailing out a Christmas update.
It’s only the Winter 2012 online edition from Colchester Enterprise.
Hurrah!
Best make it a brief one though. Business in Britain’s Oldest Recorded deserves a bit of a break. So does Team Enterprise.
Let’s start with the good news story that funding is available for any Sunny Colch social enterprise that wants to help improve the hyperlocal economy:
Colchester’s Enterprise Skills and Employment Grant – New Funding Round Open!
“The new round of the Colchester Borough Council Enterprise Skills and Employment funding for 2013 is now open for applications. Funding is available for Colchester borough based ‘not for profit’ organisations that help deliver local economic prosperity.”
In it to win it, etc.
“The funding is to be used as a catalyst [GEDDIN] to stimulate economic prosperity and social inclusion especially in the creation of new jobs, new businesses and in encouraging lifelong learning and skills development for the whole community to maximise job opportunities.
Applications can be made from Friday 14th December. The deadline for applications is 31st January 2013. To obtain an application form, or for more information on the Enterprise grant, please email enterprise@colchester.gov.uk“
No such thing as a free Christmas lunch. But the Enterprise Skills and Employment Grant is a half decent start.
And then just before Team Enterprise decamps to Liquid for the office knees up [COR] and we get to hear about:
Colbea is Celebrating 30 Years of Supporting Small Businesses in Colchester this December
“Since 1982 the Colchester Business & Enterprise Agency has assisted over 4,000 businesses to start up. To celebrate this they are planning a day of free one to one business clinics in January. Go to www.colbea.co.uk to register for more information.”
‘cos everyone looks forward to the January months and an invite to a clinic.
Bah, humbug etc.
