Free Festival Freak On

Colchester Free Festival

Remember the love for Animal Noise as they took to the Main Stage in bare feet (BARE FEET!) and played a blinder of a set last year at the Colchester Free Festival? Remember bangin’ hardcore spreading much love and smileiness around the Castle Park Bandstand? Remember bonkers Jonny Buffalo and his Civil Disobedience field at the festival, mud wrestling, a Mexican bar and burlesque?

Blimey.

Colchester Free Festival

The Chronic is still recovering from the Colchester Free Festival of 2011. Only last night and we sat down with our mug of Horlicks, and then promptly did an impression of the too cool for school DJ’s that kept Castle Park smiling all afternoon.

Soon it seems that memories will be no more – time to create some Colchester Free Festival 2012 moments to see us through the next twelve months.

That time of year again?

Sort of.

Planning for the ACE Colchester Free Festival officially starts next Tuesday with an informal gathering @firstsite to think about the way forward. Behind the scenes and the voluntary festival organisers of @CoolColchester and @CreativeCoop have been working on ways to make the third Sunny Colch festival even more fun ever since those final marquees were taken down after the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Now is the time to share the plans and collaborate. This is very much a community festival for all within Sunny Colch. Ideas and input are most welcome from anyone who has something positive to contribute.

The initial call for ideas and interest will take place on Tuesday 3rd April at 7:30pm in the Golden Goose. This is the first of what will be a regular catch up with all those wanting to contribute to the Colchester Free Festival of 2012.

firstsite has already stepped forward as a festival partner, offering initially the meeting space, as well as much more over the coming months as we countdown to bandstand gurning time. Further details will be appearing on the festival Facebook page over the coming days, as well as support from our friends @The Gazette.

But for now, it’s time to for the Horlicks, sit back in our favourite rocking chair and reminisce.

Burlesque.

Blimey.

Not quite time for bed just yet…
